The Thistle London Heathrow is situated on the airport perimeter on the main A4 Bath Road. Heathrow Airport's exciting POD transport system will take you from the hotel right into terminal 5 (£8 each way) in less than 5 minutes. Good hotel with ample parking although you might have to search for a space if arriving late in the day. Very convenient for the 'Pod' but with a short walk open to the elements, not good if raining but otherwise great fun.

The hotel was satisfactory - but the bathroom was a little tired and the room smaller than anticipated. The breakfast had a good range of food. The staff were very helpful. The biggest and best benefit of staying at the Thistle was the transport by the driverless pod to the airport - very easy to use, very quick and gets you right to the terminal and works as well in reverse on our return.

Very comfortable room and bed, clean and tidy. We ate in the restaurant and food was good and staff helpful. Hotel is in a great location for terminal 5. My husband was dropping me off for a flight so the car only needed to be parked for 1 night which cost Â£10 payable at reception. Will definitely stay here again when flying out of terminal 5.

main points 1 hotel is easy to find 2 no problem parking in rear car-park ( large parking spaces ) 3 short walk back to reception ( 20-30 yards ) 4 Even though this hotel is classed as being for Terminal 5 we use it for all terminals Great parking hotel ( also great are the rooms and food )

Hotel was easy to find. Finding a parking space was not too much problem and having parked we did notice there were further spaces in parking areas further round the hotel. The bus to and from the airport was quick and convenient. You are close to the runway so if you are a light sleeper this could be a problem but we were not disturbed. Would use this service again.

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable room. Ideal start to trip. Huge advantage having parking on site and using L:HR Pod to get to T5 was an added bonus. Since last visit it appears that some renovation has been carried out, which was needed. Will recommend.

Hotel is conveniently located (once you find it) with a large car park. Not much atmosphere and hotel bar more of a token presence. Room clean and bed comfortable. Note that the hotel was very difficult to find, two Sat Navs took us to the Heathrow Airport staff Car Park entrance with no way through to the hotel and the directions provided on the FHR booking are not up to date, note that the petrol station mentioned is a Shell petrol station, and not a Total petrol station as stated in the provided directions. It would be worth checking the exact location before you leave.

Very clean rooms extremely comfy beds. Great base for T5. We have stayed here 4xs now. The Thistle is the best location for before and after your flights at T5. The pod transit from the hotel is just a seamless way to access T5..no time schedule to adhere to..just turn up..hop on and enjoy the few mins space-age stress free ride right to T5. Take an elevator when the pod stops straight into departures. The hotel also has a fantastic terrace to sit and relax with a drink with views onto the runway. Front desk staff are helpful, polite and very calm even in busy times.

Easy to find good quality hotel has a nice terrace where one can enjoy a drink and watch the aeroplanes taking off and landing. The terminal for the Pod transit system that runs directly into terminal 5 is only a short walk from the hotel entrance it is so much better that the shuttle buses that pick up from the hotels no struggling trying to lift cases on-board.

Hotel is very convenient for Terminal 5 and the room was perfectly adequate. However the car park was bursting at the seams and I was told to just park where I could - on the yellow lines or up the curb. After driving round twice I eventually had to park on the pavement behind the hotel. The area wasn't well lit and I didn't feel very safe when returning at 11pm to collect my car.

Good check in and out, nice room and meal. The only problem, as on our previous occasion, was that the system for validating the gate card to et us out at the end of our holiday does not allow enough time to leave the area park we took approx three minutes and still the gate would not open. Crazy!

In terms of both value for money and convenience, the Thistle Heathrow represents an absolute bargain. A one-night stay plus parking at this Hotel is considerably cheaper than an equivalent parking-only rate at the adjoining T5 Car Park - and the Thistle has easy access to the T5 Pod (Station B) which is both more convenient and quicker than the shuttle bus, for only 50p more. Add to this the FHR discount and it's an absolute bargain - with additional days parking only Â£4 per day extra....I can't park in my local shopping centre for that!! Whilst my memory may be leaving me (!), having stayed in the Thistle last year as well, the hotel appears fresher - both in appearance and ambience....I suspect that it has had a make-over in the intervening period. If you are flying from T5 and have a reasonable drive to get to the airport, I can't see any reason why you wouldn't want to book a one-night stay beforehand and eliminate the potential of any motorway snaffu ruining the start to your holiday.

Directions for Thistle Hotel in Heathrow

From the west M4. At junction 5 (A40/ B470) leave the motorway and at the roundabout take the third exit A4, signposted Colnbrook. Travel along the A4 and follow signs for Heathrow and Hounslow. At traffic signals turn right, signposted M25, Heathrow Airport and Staines. After approximately 300 metres, at the next roundabout take the first exit onto the Old Bath road. Travel through Longford village and the hotel will be 250 metres on the right-hand side.

From London M4. A the M4, junction 4, take the 1st exit which is signposted Heathrow Terminals 1,2 and 3. At the next roundabout with the Concorde take the second exit signposted Terminal 4. After approximately 30 metres, take the first exit off the roundabout signposted exit Slough A4. At the traffic lights, turn left onto the A4, signposted Staines. Travel along Bath Road and just before McDonalds and the Total petrol station turn left onto Old Bath road. The hotel is located 100 metres on the left-hand side.

From M40, M25 Junction 15. At the M40 junction 1A joining the M25 follow signs for Heathrow. Stay on the M25 to junction 15 and join the M4 heading towards Heathrow and London. Heathrow POD will take you from the hotel right into terminal 5 (£8 each way) in just 5 minutes. If flying from another terminal the Heathrow Express can be used free of charge from terminal 5 to the other terminals.
There are several options for getting to the airport. We'd recommend using the POD, which is connected to the hotel via an outside walkway.

To get to T5:
The POD takes 5 minutes to get to T5 and costs £8 per person each way. You can buy tickets for the POD shuttle at the hotel reception. You'll get an access code and directions to the POD at the hotel's reception.
It leaves every 3 minutes and runs from 3am - 1am on weekdays, from 3am - 11pm on Saturdays and from 4am - 11pm on Sundays.
- Use the machine to call the POD - Once you get in, press the button for T5 - You'll arrive at Car Park Level 2, Business Parking and take the lift to Departures.

A taxi to T5 will cost around £16 and an MPV Taxi from £23.50.

Or you can take the Free Local Bus No: 423 or bus No: 7 from bus stop close to the hotel, from the hotel to terminal 5. On return from T5 to the hotel, Bus No: 423 can be caught from bus stop 6 and Bus No:7 from bus stop 8 at Terminal 5.

Transfers via the Hotel Hoppa* to T5 are charged at £5 single per adult. Children under 15 travel free (subject to change) if you buy them from the driver. Bus stops outside the hotel reception.

To get to T2 and T3

HEATHROW HOPPA TRANSFERS: BUS H4 to/from terminals 2 - 3 Transfers via the Hotel Hoppa are charged at £5 single per adult. Children under 15 travel free (subject to change) if you buy them from the driver.

Via the POD to T2, T3: Take the POD shuttle to T5 first, then use the free Heathrow Express train to get to T2 or T3

A taxi to T2 or T3 will cost around £13 and an MPV Taxi from £19.00

To get to T4:

The Hoppa* doesn't run to T4. You will need to take the Hoppa to T2 and from there catch the free Heathrow Express to T4.

Via the POD to T4: Take the POD shuttle to T5 first, then use the free Heathrow Express train to get to T4
A taxi to T4 will cost around £18 and an MPV Taxi from £23.50.
