Manchester Airport Information

Since it first opened as a single terminal airfield known as Ringway Airport back in 1938, Manchester airport has grown beyond recognition. It now sports two runways and three terminals and is the UK's third busiest airport.

How to Get to Manchester Airport

Get to the Airport from Junction 5 on the M56. Whether travelling from the North or South the M56 is easily accessible from both the M6 and the M60. The airport is only 20 minutes' drive from Manchester City Centre.

There are three terminals at Manchester Airport, please check which terminal you are flying with before you travel.

To get between Terminals 1 and 2 there is a moving walkway along the Skylink which takes around 15 minutes.

To get between Terminals 1 and 3 there is an external walkway which takes 5 minutes.

The closest parking to the terminals are the multi-storey car parks, it is only a 1-minute walk over to the terminal. Which multi-storey car park you chose will depend on which terminal you are flying from; multi-storey terminal 1, multi-storey terminal 2 or multi-storey terminal 3.

If you're feeling a little peckish at the Airport, then there are plenty of eateries to tempt your taste buds. More than 300,000 breakfasts are consumed each year at the travel hub, three million hot drinks are bought, along with one million pints of beer and 1.5 million bottles of water. Frankie and Benny's is just one of the restaurants that are popular with airport visitors. There is also a Burger King and Greggs.

If you require assistance at the airport then you should notify your requirements to your travel agent, tour operator or airline at the time of booking and no later than 48 hours before the date of your departure. Changing Places can be found in all three terminals. They are a locked facility that provides more space than a normal accessible toilet, to allow adequate room for additional equipment and carers to be present to aid the user.
