We had problem with ANPR not recognising number plate but rectified in seconds. Wished we’d booked nearer car park when arrived home to a blizzard!

The telephone number had changed so the one you sent was obsolete. It should specify that there is no reception on site ; you park your car and have to WALK to Departure lounge. We had never been and was looking for a bus in the snowy weather. This somehow spoilt the start to our trip.

Well sign posted and 10 minute walk (max) to departures. Number plate recognition worked well and found spaces at the back of the car park. Note that this was formerly long stay 2 car park and still shows as such on google maps. Mid stay 3 was long stay 1 and is slightly nearer.

All good for my vehicle, however, on exiting the car park, 2 out of the 3 vehicles in front of me had problems with the number plate recognition and had to wait a long time to get assistance, we were stuck in the queue behind and this held us up for about 10 minutes. Not what you want when on the last leg of a long journey. Not the fault of BookFHR but could you please feed it back to the airport.

Walkable but not if you have hold luggage/buggies/wheelchairs as it is probably the furthest parking away from departures..and not so good,of course, if raining! Absolutely fine for travelling just with cabin luggage!

Within easy walking distance of the Terminal building, was pleased that it was not raining though as the route was exposed. No problem finding the car park or a vacant space.

Directions for Mid Stay 2

You cannot get a refund or amend a parking booking less than 72 hours before the day of travel. For example, your last opportunity to change your package, if you're flying at 3pm on the 10th, will be 23:59 on the 6th.

During hot weather we recommend that removing all alcohol-based hand sanitiser products from vehicles when they are not occupied as they pose a risk of igniting and causing a fire.

On entrance to the airport from the A453, turn left at the roundabout and follow signs to OTHER CAR PARKS. At the following roundabout take the first exit and follow signs for MID STAY CAR PARKS, follow signs to Mid stay car park 2.

On arrival at the car park:
Drive up to the entrance barrier for your chosen car park and stop
The Automatic Number Plate Recognition system (ANPR) will read your vehicles number plate, verify this against your booking details and the barrier should then open automatically. Please note, this process may take up to 30 to 40 seconds to happen
If for any reason the barrier does not open after this time, please press the Assistance button and a member of staff will confirm your booking details with you and subsequently open the barrier to allow you entry
Please DO NOT press for a ticket to gain access to the car park, as this is not required and doing so will disable the ANPR system in relation to your booking
On exiting the car park:
Proceed straight to the exit barrier and stop
The ANPR system will read your vehicles number plate, verify this against your booking details and the barrier should then open automatically. Please note, this process may take up to 30 to 40 seconds to happen
If for any reason the barrier does not open after this time, please press the Assistance button and a member of staff will confirm your booking details with you (which will be the ref. starting EH in the comments section of your voucher) and subsequently open the barrier to allow you exit
Please DO NOT in any circumstance insert your credit card or debit card into the barrier as a further payment
